My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.
Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)
(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)
I use up-to-date Avast on W8.1 and don't have this problem. If you right-click the Avast icon in the task tray you'll find the 'Avast Shield Controls' where you can disable it for a period - see if the drive is recognised when Avast is disabled. I suspect it won't make a difference.
Jno I like that, would love to see it.
I lived in Golders Green!!
Love those lights woofy and so cheap. I used battery ones outside and wrap the 3 battery compartment in a plastic bag but am not too worried as its not going to hurt anyone if it gets wet. I have bought a 7.5 mt 240 led lights for the indoor tree, just hope they are long enought as am fed up with having several plugs to plug in.
neti, the first post on a page never appears until you're written the second post on the page. I think the site is under a curse.
That's right, you were in Temple Fontune, weren't you? Well, the bright lights of the chemist, open till midnight, definitely make it the excitement capital of England.
Morning all.had a decent sleep so am up with the lark. Nixe aunny day. Have opened my windows for fresh air and some b.gger has lit a bonfire. I hate them.
Just had a nice Chinese takeaway and of course ordered much too much. Just managed the mixed starter and a bit of special rice ( which was just like paella). Will finish tomorrow.
A damned cockroach came ambling across the carpet, I mean What!! Luckily Mr N sorted to out and I screamed and hovered up the remains. Yuk nasty. Thought they had gone for the winter.
Well it's Black Friday and I couldn't even find a cheap handbag :)
I do have a black hip and knee, fading now though along with a grazed face and broken watch face.Luckily my glasses didn't break too. I fell over in the garden on Monday and have felt a bit wobbly ever since. My own silly fault for going out there in my slippers to fill up the bird feeders and then slipping on the wet slimy steps which are railway sleepers and going down a wallop
Got told off by Mr S as I do have garden clogs to wear and could have walked down the path but I never think so have been feeling a bit sorry for myself .I can do with less pain not more.Could have been worse I suppose.
Just read back ,that's a lovely surprise for you Neti and something to look forward to.
Hope the rest of you are all ok and that your OH is alright Jno and the burn is healing.I think it was Flaminal they used when I burnt my arm badly.I don't know if it's an OTC thing though. It's really soothing.
Oh shaney you poor thing how painful for you. Hope the pain is lessening. We never learn do we? Im terrified of falling and breaking a hip. Just rest and take it easy.
Incredibly lovely day. Had to take my best off in rhecar as I was too hot on way to do the shopping. Then we wlked to the cillage and had a few drinks and lots of free tapas s rhey give you a tapa whenever you order a drink. Now home and someone who isn't typing is snoring!! It is forecast to get colder.
Afternoon all.
Vests are firmly on here .It's freezing although we've had some lovely sunshine.Thick frost first thing but I didn't test how slippery it was. Hope you're all ok .
Dear friends, I am amazed that you ever decipher my posts. They seem ok when I post them but turn into gobbedy gook when they appear all words seem to change and if I don't check them, which I don't, then it's silly. My predictive text has changed and not only predicts words it predicts sentences .
We had Chinese but have been nibbling all afternoon. This is not good!! Its still wa rm here. 22hrs and still sweating. Temps.due to drop to at least 14° this week!!
went to our German friends for their Christmas bring and buy. Presented them with piles of DVDs for other guests to buy, bought a nice vase for sis's present, ate stollen and cheese. I had mulled wine, OH had to make do with mulled apple juice, which our host kindly provided. Quite nippy outside so it was very welcome.
that sounds nice Jno. I often drink mulled apple or cranberry juice. have turned down the heat in the torts room today and set up the frost prevention heaters in their shed. need to monitor for a couple of days before they go down. Am dealing wit a household disaaaaaaaster here. One of my sourdough starters died and has stunk out the whole house...seriously when I found it at 10pm last night I was flinging open doors and windows and lighting scented candles. I washed the starter down the drain followed by much bleach and put the pot (le creuset, not replaceable :( ) in the dishwasher. This morning the pot still stinks and the dishwasher does too so it will be much dishwasher running and handwashing of washing up today.
