I have to admit I have never (knowingly) downloaded an album on to a file on my laptop. I have acquired some Christmas music which I thought I'd downloaded onto a music file but it won't play. The message reads that it can't find a playable file. There is also an album cover which I have no idea how to convert it to jpeg as it won't display either. Not a clue how to remedy all this, I need some simple guidance please. Thanks in advance for your help.
Have you possibly downloaded a shortcut, instead of the music file? The usual file extension is either .mp3 or .m4a. What is it?
What is the file extension of the album cover? If you go to the file and right-click on it, go to the `open with' command. Select Paint and see if it opens in there. Assuming it does open in Paint, click on the command `File' and then go to `Save As', and you should be able to change the file extension to .jpg.
Thanks stephen-g, I acquired the Christmas music download from the Daily Mail it was sent by email, I'm a bit lost when it comes to files, I had a music file and noted it was a zip file, which doesn't mean much to me. I don't know that I've seen an mp3 or 4a mentioned though.
If it's a zip file, double click on it and it should tell you where you want to store the files (Zip files are compressed to make them easier to send). You should get the album cover in jpeg format as well.
Did you know that if you go into windows explorer and put in the search box
*.zip
*.jpg
*.m4a
you can search for any and all files with that file extension (Assuming that you've just searching the hard drive of your Computer, and not one of the sub-files).
No luck stephen-g I tried to put it onto an iTunes prog that my daughter set up but it hasn't worked her iCloud password has expired and she can't recall what it was. I'm not much good at this. I'll try your suggestion. Thanks for your help.
No luck trying the options so I downloaded Winrar which unlocks compressed files. The file just wasn't worth all the effort it took now I see what winrar does, I am bombarded with requests to try this free apps etc and mightily suspicious of all the whistles and gongs it's adding to my laptop. Does anyone else have this.
Trying to get rid of it, I'm completely underwhelmed with this programme and I'm not sure how many programmes have been attached to it, things keep popping up while I'm trying to log into e-mails etc.doing my head in.
