Free Sound Drivers Fix?

Hi all. Following on from my YouTube sound problem which is still on-going, I have been told it's probably my sound/audio drivers needs fixing. I have googled this, found a video which helps me but after I have installed Driver Detective, and it scanned it free, found 37 faults, it is now asking for payment, so it isn't free at all to fix the fault! I'm on Windows 7.

Can anyone advise me on a fix programme which is totally free please? Here is the problem detailed on my previous post:

for some time, what I have been using to update all drivers is this http://www.iobit.com/driver-booster.php which says that it supports XP but I have only used it for Windows 7 onwards, without a problem

Details of your pc please? Do you know if you have a sound card fitted or whether you have onboard sound?

With a bit of luck your pc's manufacturers may have Audio drivers available for download and installation.

Hi SlackAlice, my computer is a very old one about 11 years old I think. Its called an e machines 3230. Think it was from PC World so may have been their own brand.

As far as I can see you have onboard sound and need Realtek 97 audio drivers.

You need to download and install Version A4.06 from Site3 = UK1 for Windows XP. When prompted 'save' the file. Once downloaded unzip it and click on the .exe file to start the install.

The actual d/l takes a little while to start so be patient!

Download a program called Slim Drivers Free and run it. The program scans your computers drivers and checks to see that they are all up to date. It will tell you which ones require updating. Have a look at the results and determine which ones you should update. In your case the sound drivers would be the ones required. Be warned only update the ones of which you are having problems with leave the others alone.
