I want to be able to watch my films on my desktop pc on my TV - I was asking a friend about this yesterday and he told me that I needed either a VGA or HDMI lead. I've looked it upon here - http://hookpctotv.com/desktop-hd
but can't find anything on my pc that looks like this. The pc is a Packard Bell D2522 Home Premium 64bit, running Windows 7 - does it not have this capability? TIA

In theory yes! I find maplin helpful for this type of stuff.
my laptop is rigged up using a hdmi cable to my tv works lovely
As long as tv and laptop has HDMI slot ....it is easy just connect the 2.
Your D2522 should have a 15-way 'video out' VGA connector for connecting to a TV.
I agree with Giggsie^^^ However it is important that your Computer has an HDMI Driver. Please check and post again.

Please could you tell me how I find out if pc has HDMI driver?
One way would be to google a photo of a HDMI socket and then see if you have one at the back of your PC. If you do it may be near where you plug the monitor in.
Oh sorry, driver. I'd hope windows would recognise what is plugged in and load the required driver.

This forum needs an edit post option :-(

I don't think that I've got an HDMI socket on my computer, or would it be what the moniter is plugged into? I'll be back tomorrow, thank you for your answers so far.
I have given further thought to your question and realise that it is Not easy to go checking your Computer to establish what Drivers it has.

In all probability your computer is equipped with an appropriate item and suitable sockets. It's really a matter of having an appropriate lead to convey signals from PC to TV. Perhaps a few minutes on the telephone to Packard Bell could be worthwhile.:-

Thank you all for your helpful answers - unfortunately my computer is quite old,and doesn't have the HDMI port. It doesn't matter - I'll just carry on watching films on the pc! Thanks again.
