All-In-One Printer/scanners.

I want to buy one, and wonder if anyone can recommend a good all-round model which will accept non-manufacturers inks without problems, please.

i have a epson stylus sx435w bought off net reasonable price and compatible ink very cheep off amazon and it lasts as long as if not longer than epson inks

And I have an Epson SX235. Agree with Smurf, they're good. I buy my inks from Hornsea Inkjets and pay around £15 for two complete sets. This is about a quarter of what Epson charge.

i was looking at the Epson, and was told it was a good buy, i still need to think about the ink side of it as that is usually the draw back
do both yours have to use a USB cable attached to PC, or is it wireless, as i can't quite figure out how it works

The SX235w can be wireless, Emmie, but I do use it down a cable, because my old desktop doesn't have wireless capability itself.

Never buy ink from Epson, they charge the earth. That's why the printers themselves are comparatively cheap.

Epson have recommended to me the Expression XP-700 maybe because I said I wanted to print on thick (190 gm) inkjet papers, they gave me a link to lots of glowing reports, but when I went searching the net myself there are some really bad ones too, though this, frustratingly, seems to apply to all equipment, the SX435W included.

Khandro, I can only speak as I find. I've had three Epson printers over the years. I probably do about 4000 pages a year, perhaps more. Both colour and b/w. Never had any real problems. The current one prints photo quality pictures onto photo quality paper with no problem. Good luck with it.

i also only speak as i find never had any trouble with it it is wireless but do find sometimes need cable to scan and inks , i got 4 lots for about 16 pound from amazon

I have an Epson Stylus Photo RX640 printer/scanner/photocopier, which I bought new in 2007. It uses 6 cartridges, and I have always bought Epson inks. A set of 6 cost me (in November 2013) £74.99 from PC World, and a cartridge lasts me about 3-4 months. I don't do much printing, but I am very pleased with the machine, and I shall be sad if and when it dies on me.

I have always used HP. Tesco has good value ones, and all HP take non-HP cartridges :::

These may not produce archive-quality photos but if it is just for everyday printing, plus the ability to use as a photocopier, I can't recommend HP highly enough.
