Lap-Top Problem

I was typing something on my lap-top when a pop-up appeared saying something like 'Do you want to disable something(add-ons?) I wasn't really paying attention. Just pressed yes to get it off tthe screen.
Anyhoo, now I can't type anything. Its still works OK apart from that (((you know, changing pages, etc.)
When I try to type it makes a clicking noise.
Answers, if any, must be very, very simple and in old fashioned English. Thank-you.

Oh, I've just noticed. You know when you 'peg up'? Or down, it moves in little 'jumps' in time with the clicks rather than smooth and silent.
