Ms Project 2008 File Format Is Not Valid
2 Answers
I am in trouble. I have a project plan that I spent weeks working on that will not open.
Here are the errors I am getting
The file format is not valid. The file is a project file Project Plan Objectives 2008.mpp is the name of the file
The other error I get is
Project cannot recognize the file format. Do you want to open this file as text only?
Operating System Running Windows Vista Business Edition
Here is what I have done so far.
- Restored the file to previous version.
I have looked at my machine to see if a service pack killed this file.
Restored my system to earlier date than file created.
Installed Project on Windows XP Pro to see if it was an Vista Issue. Same Errors.
At this point all I want to do is get the file open so I can print and see the project layout. Please help

Open your problem file (it may help to turn off automatic calculation if the file is reluctant to open). 2. Select File/Save As... 3. Save as type: Project Database (*.mpd) then click Save. 4....
