I took the free windows 10 upgrade from windows 7. Every time I turn the computer on it says this operating system is not supported by this application.
I have the windows 10 start menu and other things but when I click on settings nothing happens. It seems windows 10 has not quite arrive but windows 7 has gone. Can I go back to windows seven.

go to settings, update and security, recovery
On that page you will get the option of resetting your machine which is an attempt to put right any issues or you also will see a button to retun to your previous operating system
Did you manage to resolve the printer issue Peter they are normally fairly minimal- either resetting the default printer of downloading a new printer driver have resolved all the ones I`ve heard of.
Sounds like it fell down during the installation - To get you back to 7 we have to complete the 10 installation to tidy things up.
1. Delete all files in the Windows/softwaredistribution/download folder.
Go to command prompt and right click on it and select "as administrator" then type in wuauclt.exe/updatenow to get it started again.
In case this doesnt work was your Win 7 a disk or preloaded.
I'm stumped,it won't allow me to do anything.Windows seven was preloaded, but I do have discs but am not sure I have confidence to format and start again
wiping and starting again is no big deal but as Win 7 is quite old it will be a long process. I hope you backed up all your stuff before you started. Ok insert the Win 7 disk into your dvd drive restart the machine and keep tapping the F2 key till the bios opens - change the boot order to dvd drive first and save and exit - that will take you into Win 7 setup so just amend your options as offered as it goes. Once it finishes you will have several hours of tapping windows update to get it all back up to date. Do you have access to the internet from another machine to download a small program called drivereasy www.drivereasy.com - and put it on a stick if you wifi isnt working. It will tell you what your various hardware is and offer the latest drivers. Do the wifi first. As soon as you run out of updates set a system restore point if everything is ok.
Have you had look at the Lexmark site to see if there is any more up to date driver. They are mostly ok but a bit expensive on inks do you use originals or recycled
The message says Packard bell in the top left corner followed by this operating system is not supported by this application.
the computer is working but is somehow between windows 7 and windows 10,and as ukbod says it seems like the installation of windows 10 did not complete for some reason. The main problem is I can't access settings as a click just does nothing so I can't go back to windows 7 or complete the windows 10 setup.I am just not knowledgeable to do anything too drastic.
I`m afraid its back to 7 via a complete reload - this is the best deal
unless you already have your own disks - see my instructions above 12 aug 18:40.
