I have tried 3 times to download Windows 10 and its failed to appear. I keep getting a message saying my computer is compatible but then nothing. I tried downloading on Tuesday, then Wednesday at 11 pm then this morning at 1 am. I leave the computer turned on but no programmes running. Has anyone any suggestions? Microsoft "help" box says they will not "help" with Windows 10 problems.

Then open a command prompt as an administrator and type wuauclt.exe/updatenow - its should then start the 10 download. If it downloads ok do a custom install picking your way through all the pages and turning off all comms except for fault reporting and location. Be prepared to update all your drivers after installation and reload your printer drivers and maybe a bit of fiddling with old programs. The rest will be just cosmetic tailoring
Personally, I would avoid Windows 10 for a further few months. Microsoft is still sorting-out problems with the Operating System which appears to have been launched, somewhat prematurely.
Not quite sure what I did or how but I now have Windows 10. I have delayed getting it as I heard there were a few problems. I will let you know. I also need to install Windows 10 on a laptop but think I may need to recover first!!
