Graphic Board Change

I would like to change the graphic card in the HP Pavilion 550-153na Desktop PC to the Msi Nvidia gtx 960 Gaming 2GB PCI-E Graphics Card. Do i need a bigger power supply ? Being 13 this is my first time changing a graphics card.

Fast gaming cards consume a lot of power, Harry. The 960 needs over 400 watts for itself.

Your PC would seem to have only a 180 watt power supply, so I would guess you're going to need a new one with around 600 watts.

600w is ok, but I think 400w is the recommended system supply. In which case 600 may be a bit of an overkill, especially if difficult to fit in.

I think you'd find it easier since you can measure the space you have to put it in.

You could always e-mail HP Customer Services/Spares/Sales/Whoever and ask for a recommendation.

Also, the graphics card is quite a bit wider than your existing card and will take up 2 slots. Make sure the card has sufficient room within your case.

it will also require it's own power supply cable from the PSU.

£165 will get you a GTX 960 mini-size card from Amazon if space is an issue.
