Playing Back A Dvd+Rw Disc

Using my Laptop I have copied (Burnt?) some photos/video clips on to a Sony DVD+RW Disc. These played back fine on the Laptop. When I pressed Eject a message came up saying something to the effect that the computer needed to do something to the disc to make it playable on other devices. A short while later it ejected the disc.
I wanted to then make sure it would play on a typical DVD player, so put it into my Panasonic DVD/HDD (DMR-EX773EB) which says it can playback DVD+RW discs. It failed to play it and said the disc was not recognised. I tried again and got a message saying disc incompatible. Am I doing something wrong. Should the disc have been "Finalised" like when you do CDs?
When I first put the DVD into the laptop it asked me how I wanted to use the disc, and the option "Use like a USB" was ticked. This said I could delete etc once the images were copied to the disc, which I thought would be useful. Not sure if this is the reason???? Thanks

My guess is that by putting it in a typical HiFi DVD player you are not using it as a USB, so the typical HiFi DVD layer doesn't find the bits it needs to read it.

But I expect someone more expert will be along in a bit.

You should select the other option "mastered" - the use like usb mean that you can go back and add/delete stuff, but this also menas the disk may not be compatible with dvd players or other computers.

Also, your dvd play may not be able to play the video files and photos - for photos it may be looking for them being in a folder and it would depend on the format of the video files - your dvd player may only play mp4 and not avi or vice versa.

Check the manual of the dvd player and be prepared to create a few test disks before you hit on the right combination.

Thanks Tuvok. I presume that having selected the use as USB option on this disk, it cannot be reversed. I'll do as you suggest until I find what works.
