What's It Called, The Item On The Far Right Of Your Screen?
It's a grey oblong which moves as you scroll down, gradually - in some cases - becoming a square. It used to act as a space marker, but now it doesn't have much use at all

Thanks for the quick answer, Mamyalynne & Pigletion. I'm busy looking at some pictures on Flickr right now and reminiscing of the time before the scroll bar used to shrink and bounce as it got to the bottom of the page. One would merely scroll to the bottom of the page, then click onto the next one. Now I can't tell whether I'm coming or going. I'm no longer able how further there is to go.

It's not the fault of the poor scrollbar. The Scrollbar slider is sized proportionate to the height of the web page, but lots of modern web pages are designed in such a way that as you scroll down, they just keep growing and dynamically adding more content. Facebook works like this, as does Google Images. Blame the web designers.
