Skype Issue?

Anyone having Skype cutting off mic when it detects computer generated speech or perhaps other sounds from computer? My daughter uses a computer for speech. For the last few weeks we have video calls but I am unable to hear what she is saying with her computer. Background sounds are OK until the speech engine 'speaks'. All was good until the end of September when a new release was rolled out I think.
