Scanner Problem
16 Answers
My new laptop, Windows 10, has accepted my printer/scanner and it shows up in 'Devices'. I am able to print with no problem, but I can't scan - well, I can't send the scan to my laptop as I used to. The only option coming up on the small screen (on the printer/scanner) is 'scan to USB'. Is this easily fixable?

If not, I'm sure there're AB'ers with experience of this unit & will be able to help properly.

On your laptop type in the search box 'scan' and click on the Windows fax and scan App. When the app starts, click on new scan Making sure your Kodak is switched on.
If you get a box stating no scanner is found then you will have install the scanner drivers, which should be on the DVD/CD supplied with printer

With 'all-in-one' printers, PCs recognise them as separate devices (printer/scanner/et), with each having its own driver.
Your post suggests that Windows 10 has recognised the printer driver but not the scanner one. Try reinstalling the drivers from the software which came with your printer/scanner, or from here:

Sorry, Lie-in King, I thought Windows OS was some previous 'thing' ie like Windows 7!
SlackAlice, I don't think any Kodak apps came up - but I was busy following the instructions! I still have the CD, but I don't think this laptop has any slots, little drawer. I managed to find my saved scan, so thanks again. At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, how do I get to save my scan as I used to - PDF (or something like that)? The options now are horrible-looking things - JFIF, GIF, TIFF, one beginning B...

Buenchico, your help has been invaluable - thanks a million. I now have everything installed and running properly. There's an added bonus for me - I now have my PDF option back, when saving things.
PS I got an error message saying 'Your computer firewall is blocking the network connection between the printer and computer. You will not be able to start network scanning from your printer.' As I don't even know what 'network scanning' is, and as my trial scans have worked, I'm assuming I can just ignore this.
