I can not stand any more. The hello Google go guano has been turned off at every place I can find reference to it. Volume is supposedly at zero. I'm trying to go to sleep. And the £+-_*-"*- tablet keeps beeping and beeping. And if I tell it to shut up it has the B cheek to say out loud that it can't help with shut up !!!!!! It's not supposed to be on. It should never ever ever be spying on what I do or say anyway. It just keeps on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on ..... Apart from putting an expensive tablet under a sledgehammer how can this garbage be uninstalled never to torment me again ?

TIA

This refers to the Nexus range, rather than your tablet, but it might still be relevant:

It seems that the trick is to use two fingers - which is probably what you'd like to display to the idiot who designed your tablet anyway!

Thanks, but I must be doing something wrong, or a later Android version is different, as I've no issue finding Google settings, but no Apps tab.
Question Author
It may be coincidence but I find this issue occurs seemingly after having used earphones and then removed them. Might be a 'red herring'.

Glass of alcoholic liquid finished; this tablet is now banished to the bathroom, where hopefully I'll not be able to hear it.
The Google page for help with the Pixel C says that you should refer to the instructions for Pixel phones (and provides a link to them). That leads to here
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2781964?hl=en&ref_topic=7078253
where it says that 'Overview' is what you need to tap on. You can then swipe an app left or right to quit it. (Alternatively, scroll up to the top and tap 'Clear All' to quit all apps).
>>> Glass of alcoholic liquid finished

Just the one? Surely not!

Have another!

It's still doing it this morning. Thanks for looking, Chris. If only there was an "overview" or "quit all" it would be so simple. I intent to try Play Store and see if a recent update has screwed things, and failing that, see if YouTube has visual instructions.

It may just be crep hardware/software design. I may try this if it happens again

Actually I've just checked the earphone plug. It has 4 sections ! I think there's a major design cick up. So I wasn't imagining the earphone connection then.
