Whay, all of a sudden is it taking at least a quarter of an hour for my laptop to get onto the Chrome/Google page?
I have run C Cleaner and Malwarebytes and AVG virus scanner but nothing seems to be speeding it up.

Also, my laptop is getting very warm, underneath, after a few minutes usage.

i wish the back of my acer aspire had come off that easily after removing all the screws :-(
Question Author
Not that easy then, Ael?
mine had clips-ons all around the edges which had to be prised off, the language was atrocious ...
Question Author
Was it easier to put back?
yes, it clipped back on easily enough
Question Author
I'll have a go later. Thank you all.
Tip....when unclipping panels and cases on lappies use a guitar plectrum. You will not damage the edges of the case or split the plastic.
Question Author
Thank you. Funnily enough, I still have the plectrum but not the guitar. :-)
Just a thought but is there any chance your harddisk is nearly full - that always slows machines down - if you dont know where to check this just ask
Question Author
I don't know where to check it, CaC.

Hey hey! My laptop fan is now blowing out cool air, just like a summer breeze on my face.

I, however, am a sweaty mess having struggled for at least twenty minutes trying to get the back off.
It would have helped if I had taken out the four screws in the battery recess. :-(

It's not loading any faster but at least I'm no longer afraid that it's going to burst into flames.

Thank you to all who gave me lots of suggestions as to what to do.
Well done Tilly.
Question Author
Thank you, Bhg. :-)
When you put the book under your laptop make sure you are not covering the fan vent . Just a thought .
Question Author
Good point, Andres. Thanks.
There should be a file explorer icon on your bottom bar - click on that -
click where it says This PC and the space usage should show - if its significantly over 50% that may be part of your problem.
Question Author
What does it look like Cac?
If you're on Windows 7, click on the Microsoft logo at the bottom left of your screen, then click on "computer" on the list that appears. The size and usage of all your drives will be shown.
Question Author
Thank you, Bhg. It says, 340Gb free of 450GB.

So I assume that's ok?
