How Do I Stop Incessant Apple Software Updates From Appearing On My Screen?
6 Answers
Since last November, I have had a new computer (Windows 10) which, once I got used to its quirks of operation, seems to work well enough.
But I am getting utterly sick of finding, if I've left the screen unattended for a few hours, a large box in the middle of the screen from Apple, informing me that new software is available, and inviting me to upload it.
To the best of my knowledge, I have never had any dealings with Apple, and neither am I likely to. Yet somehow they seem to have got my details in their system, and will not leave me alone. OK, I know all I have to do is to click on the X on the top right to get rid of it - but it's a damn nuisance, and suggests to me that they are monitoring my search habits and think they know what I want.
The worst of it is that there seems to be no way to tell them to cut it out - at least, not via that box, that I can see.
Anybody know any way to stamp out these things for good, so that the box never appears again?

Otherwise uninstall it but be quite sure you dont need it first.

Woofgang: It's not malware. I have Malwarebytes AntiMalware installed, seems to work efficiently, and I run regular scans.
JimF: I don't have iTunes - if I want music, I'm quite happy with YouTube. And no, neither do I have an iPhone (or a mobile device of any sort).
Thanks to all for the responses.
Maydup: I'll look at the possibility of uninstalling it, if I can find where it's located - no idea. I'm very anti-Apple, after a number of annoying problems with it that other people have told me about.

It's either or, really. If you don't have iTunes installed, you can look for it from now till Xmas and you won't find it.
If your Windows 10 machine is reasonably new, chances it won't have iTunes installed unless you've (accidentally) installed it yourself. More details here: https:/ /blog.e lcomsof t.com/2 019/01/ apple-i tunes-s tandalo ne-vs-m icrosof t-store -editio n/
