Ion Slide And Film Scanner.
I've got an' ION Slides 2 PC 35mm and film scanner' which I bought about eight years ago and only used twice on a Windows 8 PC. I can't get it to work on Wndows 10 and as the item is now obsolete I assume the drivers are the problem.
I would appreciate any help as I've some lovely memories on old slides which I would like to digitise without having to spend quite a lot of money on a replacement.
Cheers.

A Window 10 computer is almost certainly using 64-bit architecture. (If you're unsure, right-click on 'This PC' and select 'Properties'). The Windows 64-bit driver is here:

(NB: As that's a zip file, you might need to extract its content first and then run the actual driver installation software).
If you need the software which was supplied with your film scanner, you can download it from here

(Once again, that's a zip file, so installing the software might be a two-stage process).
You might get your scanner to work directly by installing the 64-bit driver. If not, start by seeing if the driver has actually installed:
In the Windows search box (bottom left of your screen), type 'cmd'. Then click on 'Command Prompt'. Type 'driverquery' and hit 'Enter'. You'll then see a list of all the drivers on your computer.
If you can't see the relevant driver shown, return to the driver installation program, right-click on it and select 'Properties'. Select the 'Compatibility' tab, then click on 'Run Compatibility Troubleshooter' to allow you to run the program in Windows 8 mode.
If the driver has installed though, you should be able to get the scanner running by opening Photo Impression (which is the software that came with the scanner) or any other image-editor that can import scanned files from a TWAIN driver (such as Irfanview, Gimp or Photoshop). If you can't try running that software in Windows 8 mode, by using the Compatibility Troubleshoooter as above.

I'm a pretty good swimmer but I may be getting a little out of my depth, but here goes.
Thanks, Etch. The Software installation disk is Arcsoft Photoimpressions 6.1 for Windows XP and Vista (32/64 bit) 2009. That's all there is.
And Chris. Thanks for your usual comprehensive answer. The 64 bit driver is already installed but after that my head was well and truly underwater. I've no idea what a zip file is and would be reluctant to remove one in case I do more harm than good.
Photoimpressions do not provide W10 drivers for this scanner , presumably because it is long out of production, but I will persevere and let you know if I succeed. Thanks again.
Cheers

If the software and drivers have installed with no error messages then I would try running the ArcSoft PhotoImpression executable in an appropriate Compatibility mode (e.g. Windows XP or Windows 7). The executable will be found somewhere like
C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\PhotoImpression\photoimp.exe
Right-click on it and select 'Properties'. In the Properties window click the 'Compatibility' tab, then tick 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and choose from the earlier versions of Windows.
