I tried to print a Word document sent as an attachment to my email. Canon 3350 series. It's printing as A5 (on A4 paper). Have checked settings and the advice on the Help page, without success. Never been a problem before (monthly quiz). It was OK yesterday.
I've just changed the BW ink cartridge, but that surely won't have affected it?

The first thing to do is to open the document in Word (or a compatible program) and check its dimensions. It could be that the person who created it accidentally used an A5 master page instead of an A4 one. (In which case, you'd be wasting your time fiddling with your printer settings).

Then hit Ctrl-P, to open the printer dialogue box, and click on 'Properties' for your printer. Then click on 'Page Setup' and check that 'Page layout' shows 'Normal size.' (If you've been sent an A% document though, and you want it to be printed as A4, switch to 'Fit-to-page' instead).

I think I've tried everything now. Printer properties OK. Sender says the document is showing normally on his computer. Other Word documents printing correctly. ditto emails. The only difference from previous months is that in the past the quiz has apparently been attached in two different formats, this time only one. Should I try converting it to something other than Word?
In my experience the PC environment allows 'how to print' settings in numerous places. Many a time I also have almost been tearing my hair out trying to find where the settings that are taking priority, is held.

My suggestion is try anything you can think of to get the print out correctly.
Simply use 'Fit-to-page' to enlarge the document from A5 to A4.

I thought I'd tried that but it didn't work. I'll have another go when the cat condescends to get off my lap.
^^^ It's good to know that you've got your priorities right ;-)
Unplug it . Turn it back on again. And I mean unplug it from the wall.

Fit to Page doesn't work. The preview keeps showing it as A5. Checked Printer Properties, used the slider, everything. Annoying.
Looks like the doc is set to A5. Open a new document, select layout then size, make sure it's A4 then copy the old one and paste in.

OK, so now you're all going to think I'm a complete numpty (well I was 80 last week). It's so long since i did a Copy and Paste that I've forgotten how to do it. Please can you remind me? Using Win 10.
ctrol a to hightlight what you want, ctrl c then ctrl v, and happy belated birthday
CTRL+A, right click - copy, go to the new doc then CTRL+V

I followed all tose instructions, thank you. The first time I printed just page 1, that emerged nicely as A4. So I repeated the process to print the whole document, and guess what? It all emerged as A5. So I'm giving up as it's using far too much printer ink. I will manage from the small version. But the odd thing is, there were three attachments on the email document and the other 2 are fine in A4. And no-one else is having any problems.
Thank you for birthday greetings. I'm wondering whether I'm too old to upgrade to Win 11.
Do what I said above copy the whol document then to make sure go through it page at a time (Layout - size - a4) then use print preview to verify then save the new doc as a whole. Sounds like your original doc has the wrong page size set somehow.
I still think that the author of the document might have selected 'A5', rather than 'A4', when creating it.

Open the document in Word. Click 'Layout', followed by 'Size', to see what is pre-selected there.

I've done all that, checked it carefully, and it's still printing in A5. I forwarded it to a friend, who says it's done exactly the same for her. I'll leave it now, and cope with the A5 version. Sender is as puzzled as we are. Thank you all very much for your help and patience.
^^^ It's definitely been created in A5 then!
