I am aware an Ethernet Broadband connection is unreliable (at least from NTL in my experience) as I am currently forced to connect via Ethernet. The message " you have limited or no connectivity" and the resulting loss of service is very frustrating not to mention expensive. I tried reinstalling NTL's broadband software to configure the usb connection but got Network adapter error. In device manager under network adapters it only shows the Ethernet adapter drivers and no mention of any usb devices. Also all other usb devices check out as operational. Apologies for the preamble but How can I connect the NTL modem via usb in the light of information given here? Those C**ts wan"t me to phone the helpline 60p/min.

So, you have a USB modem to connect you to your cable service (NTL). This may be your problem -- it's better to have an ethernet modem.

The modem NTL (b*****ds) supply has both Ethernet and USB connections and the installation software gives me the option how I want to connect. In my experience (as stated) the Ethernet is cr@p. I normally connect via USB (implied) but that option has been removed (network adapter error). This is a problem external to my system and entirely due to NTL -as I understand it - so incensed I should pay 60p/min for hours on the phone to some patronizing **** taking c**t to restore the service I'm already paying for and not getting. Sorry for the moan, unusual for you to get it wrong, maybe it's just me and I've gone mad.
