How do I write to DVDs?

I have just replaced my CD-R drive with a DVD +-R.

Now when dragging files to the drive with Windows XP, just like I did with a CD in the past, I am prompted to insert a blank CD! It is if it doesn't realise that I have put a blank DVD in.

The device manager shows that the drive is working properly, and it is clearly recognised as a writer, but I can't use the writing wizard, it just tells me to put media in when I already have...

HELP!!!

Hi

XP natively only supports CD burning, not DVD burning. You'll need a burning program such as Nero to write to DVD's.
