samsung cd-rw/dvd drive sm-308

would anyone know if this drive will work ok in a vertical position ?
my new slim line dell computer has a cd-rom fitted verically & i would like to replace it with above samsung.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.The Samsung website doesn't list a 'SM-308' under either current or discontinued drives. If you mean the SN-308 then, yes, you can mount it in a vertical position. This is shown under 'Drive mounting' here:

A bit more searching has shown that the Samsung SM-308 does exist. It was probably never intended for release in the European market (which would explain why it doesn't appear on their European website).
The answer is still the same: Yes, you can use this drive in a vertical position.
