Can't Switch Identities on Outlook Express

Everything working fine, merrily switiching away! Now when I start up and open OE, it opens OK and seems to be a different identity each time.But when I try to swtich, the whole thing closes down and I can't open OE again without turning system off!
I am the only user on the pc so its me logged on every time. Please help if you can.
