flash card

hi all, have got a pda which I have put a memory flash card into. when I load programmes the pda puts them into its own onboard memory and leaves the card with all the extra memory on empty, but the onboard is chokker full.how do I incorporate the extra memory with the onboardso it just increases total memory or how do I load a programme from my desk top computer onto the flash card. I have the option message of sending to the pda via active sync or card reader.
