Hi all, can anyone help with this please? I am trying to format a column of numbers so that they change colour if the next column has a Y next to the cell (e.g. cell G3 is the number 40 and it's in a blue font, the following cell H3 is either Y or N and I have managed to format column H so if the cell is Y then the font is red if the cell is N the font is green) However I need to highlight the previous cell if the letter Y follows it and can't figure out how to do it.
Sorry looking at this question it's a load of babble, but if you can make sense of it I'd appreciate the formula

You do not say which version of MS Excel you are using but you should be able to achieve the effect you're after by using Conditional Formatting.

Use Excel's inbuilt Help to explain how to use it or peruse the many helpful pages listed by Google...
