does anyone know how I can make a hard copy of the font styles in Microsoft Word? (Apart from typing the whole thing out!)

Go into the Windows control panel and select the Fonts folder.

It may be on the left under "See also"

A window with all the fonts is displayed.

Double click on one and the option Print is shown in the top right of the window.
Or you can download a free AMP Front Viewer from

http://freewarearena.com/html/Downloads/detail s/id=1882.html

and do all sorts of magic tricks with the fonts on your system.

thanks for the prompt reply, but what I am after is a way of printing off the font styles as they appear in the drop down menu, ie: the complete list of fonts.
Yeah... well you can. Open the AMP font viewer program and click 'view font list/view categories' in the left bottom corner. That will open a new window that has all your fonts listed as they appear in your drop-down list. Then click the FILE tab and select all, then PRINT and you'll get probably 2 pages of text printed out in each font style, exactly as they appear in your word processor.
