enabling numbers on laptop

the numbers lock is turned off. hence no numbers coming up. how do i corrcet this?

When NumLock is active, usually indicated by a small light on the keyboard, the number keys on the keypad behave as numbers... I'm assuming you just don't know how to activate the NumLock? Try <Fn> <Numlk> for instance... ie. keep the FN key depressed and press the NumLk key.
