my computer is slow and keeps freezing

my computer has just started acting strange, it has slowed right down and suddendly freezes. It also keeps switching its self off for no appartent reason. I use windows defender. avg anti virus and mcfee firewall. I have ran various scans, but they all come back fine. apparently i have been told it might have something to do with my registration keys (how do i get rid of them)
I have done a defrag recently as well, but it seems to still be running slow.
