I have had nightmares over .cab files. I suspect that .cab files are places on the HDD where programs that are being installed store there info untill it is needed by the program installer. The programs also seem to stick stuff back into them at times.
All this is absolutely useless to you but have you tried going to Microsoft's site and typed the error code in. I am sure they have an separate help file for Office 03. Sometimes the site is actually helpful when it is working.
Is it possible that the trial version is a later one than the standard one you installed. Try uninstalling/restart/reinstall MS office.

I think wildwood is on the right track. Did you uninstall the trial version or just install the full version on top?
Ssometimes the best thing is to uninstall the programme completely and install the latest version.
I also suggest you uninstall the entire Office 20003 application and start again. If you've already done this and still have issues then the only recourse is to follow the link below to the microsoft office help...
