File on floppy mysteriously dissappears???

I recently sucessfully saved my excel spreadsheet onto a floppy disk, after spending manmy hours on it. Everytme i opened up excel i would load the file up from that disk. It was then when i went to college the next mornig to prit it off and give to my teacher, that the file ws nowhere to be seen. I have tried file searches on my home computer (this was where i actually worked on the spreadshet) and have not been able to find, i mean a file cant just deleate itself can it ? please please can anyone out there help me/??? Do you have a newer version of Excel on your home computer than on the one in college. Can you still open it from the floppy at home? If so save it as "the version on your college computer".
