just bought my grand daughter a crap laptop unknown it is a hp compaq armada m700 laptop p2-365mhz-6gb 96mb but cant get access to the internet some one told me it is because the memory is to low can i get it upgraded to a 128 or 256 mb would i need to upgrade any thing else like the 6gb or 365mhz can anyone help me thanks

The low memory should not stop you getting to the interent.

Why cant you access the internet ?

What have you tried ?

Are you on dial up or broadband, what messages do you get ?

What version of Windows have you got ?

it was the guy in the computer shop that said that m8 you need at least 128mb i went in to buy a wireless adaptor for it today he said that is what you need the wife phoned aol last night and they tried to talk her through it but there was no connection because we did not have the adaptor for it then when he told us that i did not buy it but if you say that you can then i will get it tomorrow and phone aol again we are on microsoft windows xp the computer is only 2yr old the other one is brand new and it is a wireless modem any help you can give me would be appreciated i am very green on computers cheers

That laptop is definitely not just 2 years old. It's definitely older. I'm surprised it's running XP at all.

However, if it is on XP then yes if you have a wireless router then you should be able to get a wireless adapter for it (assuming you have a free USB port).

hi m8 maybe ive mislead you there the laptop is a lot older than that it is my computer that is two yrs old and there is a slot for a usb connection i will buy the adaptor tomorrow fone aol see how that goes but thanks for your time anyway m8 cheers
