division sign

While posting an answer recently I wanted to use the division sign, the code for which is Alt 0247. When I did so, instead of printing �, I was instantly ejected from the AnswerBank website and reverted to my home page. This happens each time I try to use Alt 0247 - and only Alt 0247. It doesn't happen for any other of the Alt codes.

I printed it (above) by using "select" and "copy" from the character map. Has anyone any ideas what might be causing this?

Start>programs>accessories>system tools>character map, then select the character you require, copy, then paste into your AB screen

Thanks puzzlesRus. It gets me the symbol I want, right enough. And I found I should have had NumLock on instead of off when using the keypad.
