How to uninstall avg free version

I had avg free version but have recently purchased mcafee software which was quite expensive, the only problem is i need to get rid of avg before i can download the acafee. i have tried various things to uninstall it like go to the website and do it the way they say but nothing has worked. i cannot contact them as they dont have contact detials and i am getting very frustrated. Please help

Tip: Do not uninstall AVG. Return Mcafee to the shop and get a refund.

Before you can uninstall it you need to right-click the AVG icon in the system tray and shut it down. If you can't see it in the system tray, right-click the task bar and choose properties, then untick the box "Hide inactive icons".

But as CushtyFred says, you'd be better off junking the McAfee stuff. Why you felt the need to pay for something inferior to replace something that was working for you for free, I can't imagine.

Thanks i will try this. i bought mcafee as AVG was not workign for me.

try clicking in add& remove programes then click remove on chosen item
