Acer Aspire 5610Z randomly restarts

My Acer Aspire 5610A randomly restarts. I've only had it about a month or so. It happens when I'm running a large program (games, mostly). The laptop is plugged into the wall, so I don't think it's the battery. I have it on one of those "chill pads" with the fans built in, so I don't think it's overheating. Any help would be great.

My guess it IS overheating.

Games are very CPU and graphics intensive and not really made for laptops.

Even with the chill pad it may be getting too hot, try getting a more powerful chill pad.

Not too ken on those chill pads they manufacturer does an excellent job of cooling

Try using it on a piece of conti board or similar thats what I do with mine cost me �2.00 and works perfectly

BTW it does sound like overheating

I concur, overheating. My other half had exactly the same problem!!

It does sound like overheating, perhaps the video card isn't quite managing the games you are playing, or your virtual memory settings are not optimal.
I find that windows likes a re-install every say 2 or three months else it becomes less stable, try that!
Are there any power saving options for your acer? Could be that a power saving option isn't giving enough power. Any overclocks on your system? Can also cause instabilities...

There's no need to reinstall Windows if you are using XP or Vista - all you need to do is delete a profile and create another one I have had XP for 5 years and never reinstalled (but created lots of new profiles) it was true of Win 95/98/M
