I am rather puzzled as to what decides whether in Outlook Express, as well as subject, date, etc., you get the listing of e-mails in any particular folder under To or From headings. On some machines I find it listed one way and on others it is the opposite. Ideally I would like to be able to choose by switching between these and sometimes get everything listed as To and on other occasions perhaps choose From as a criterion - rather like one switches between date orders. Is this possible, and if so how ?
At the top of the list of emails you should see a bar with 'arranged by' written on it. Click the bar and choose which way you want the message displayed.
Please excuse me if I am wrong. I use Outlook but imagine that Outlook Express is similar in layout.
Thanks HWKE. It turns out only the Sent folder(s) (including any sub-folders) show To - all others show From regardless of whether the message came in or was sent. By dragging it (perhaps temporarily) into a Sent folder one can get it to be shown as From. But I don't see any way to choose - OE is clearly limited in this way (I think). Correct me if I am wrtong, someone.
Thanks for this question, Karl. In order to provide you with an answer, you've forced me to investigate something I've been meaning to sort out on my own PC for ages ;-)
Solution:
Go to a folder which you want to show a 'To' column. (e.g. click on 'Inbox')
Well done, Chris, and thanks - easy when you know how ! I freely admit I really have neither the inclination or patience for searching and/or experimenting with these things. It is so much easier to take the easy way out and just ask. Thanks again :)
