Sorry but still having problems with this. Have installed and run Spybot and undertaken a full Norton Scan (both have come back clear). Every so often when launching the internet a blank page tries to open and superimposes itself over the requested internet site - not a real issue because I can just close it but it is becoming an irritant. The page is titled Microbillsys or something similar - has anyone please got any ideas what is causing and how I can delete. Thanks.
1. Open Control Panel >Add/remove programs and search for Microbillsys. Remove it if you find it.
2. Reboot into safe mode by pressing F8 during the boot sequence.
3. Run the spyware checks in safe mode.
4. If any malware is found, remove it and run the check again (until it stops finding any)
Thanks HWKE what exactly do you mean by the boot sequence - is this when the laptop first fires up and displays Microsoft and a bar at the bottom. Also will it be F8 on every computer?
Either when it first starts (called a cold boot), or when you tell it to restart (called a warm boot).
I always find I have to repeatedly press F8, rather than keeping my finger on it, because I have never been sure exactly when to do it. It is before the Windows logo appears.
, when the screen is black with white writing. It is F8 on every computer. When you get to the boot option screen, there will be a list of ways to start, pick safe mode, not safe mode with networking.
Done that, scan returned as clear. Can't find a program of that name either. Lo and behold first time I have just launched the website the old ****** appeared again - actual text is

my advice would be not to sign up for porn sites, usually helps!! why sign up then complain that something has magically installed itself. It's not a scam at all you signed up for a porn site and didn't cancel it within the 3 days and now try to make out that magic has happened and someone has installed a virus. Complete rubbish!!
Just a quick response to the last clown that posted an absolute load of hogwash - I have never signed up to a porn site and resent the insinuation.
If some 21 months down the line that is the best you can come up with then more fool you. This site is supposed to be for sharing information and help not for clowns to spread malicious tripe.
