PC and Phone connection problem

I have recently bought a new PC but now I can't make or receive phone calls when logged on.My security is AVG and I have BT Broadband connection. It was fine previously

Check that you have placed adsl filters in the telephone sockets where phones are connected.
Typically you get two, you made need more

Mattie, Thanks for that but adsl filters are in and still having problems. If you think of anything else, please let me know and thanks once again for your trouble.
Then you may have a faulty filter.
Not just filters in all phone points with phones

also in the point your modem/router plugs into (you use the other (square (rj11)) socket

if no joy
then find the point where the line comes in .... you should find the box "splits into two (the top half unscrews) in/out.

try phone in there
