iP4200 printer ...
Please put me out of my misery ...
Just gone to print on a CD-Rom using the above printer ... and cant work out how!
The instructions seem to not bother to tell you !!
If someone can tell me then please do ! (and if you can tell me how to ensure i set up the print area then so much the better !)

I suspect that you might have lost the instructions ;-)
I use an IP3000. This shares its instruction book with the IP4000 but it also came with a completely separate 'CD-R Print Guide'. This makes no reference to any particular model, so I assume that the instructions are common to many Canon printers. The guide is the size of a paperback book but that's only because it's in 12 languages. Hopefully, I can summarise its content fairly easily:
1. Start CD-LabelPrint
2. Click 'New'.
3. Click the 'Select Paper' icon. (Its on the next row under 'File', 'Edit', etc.)
4. Under 'Print Genre', select 'CD-LabelPrint'.
5. Under CD Type, select 'Standard CD (12cm)'.
6. Click OK.
7. Edit the label image. (Check the Help file if you need further information).
8. Click 'Print'
9. Click 'Printer'

8. Click 'Print'
9. Click 'Printer'
10. Check that 'BJ Cartridge' is set to 'Color'
11. Check that 'Media Type' shows 'Printable disc (recommended)' or 'Printable disc (others)'
12. Choose your required print quality.
13. Click 'OK'
14. Click 'Print'
15. Open the paper output tray. (it's probably open anyway. It's the fold-up 'door' at the front of the printer).
16. Pull the inner cover forward to open it.
17. Place the CD in the tray. (Printable side up).
18. Place the CD tray on the feeder (which you revealed when you pulled the inner cover down).
19. Push the CD tray part way into the printer, so that the arrow on the side is roughly lined up with the arrow on the feeder.
20. Click 'OK'.
21. After printing, simply pull the CD tray out to remove it. Then push the feeder back into position. After allowing it to dry slightly, remove the CD, without touching its surface.
