Can't see USB 2.0 ?
I have Windows XP Professional on my computer. When I turn on my printer, which connects to a USB port, I get the message:
"This device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port. For a list of available ports, click here".
The USB 2.0 drivers were installed from the CD that came with my motherboard, which has USB 2.0 ports. Any suggestions?

Have you checked that USB 2 is enabled in the BIOS? God knows why, but some motherboards allow you to configure the ports as USB1.
Some motherboards come with a mixture of both USB2 and USB1 ports. Have you tried connecting to a different port?
Have you checked in device manager to see that you have an Enhanced USB host Controller (in the Universal Serial Bus section)?

In a box with 'HI-SPEED USB Device Attached To non-HI-SPEED Hub' at the top (in the blue bar) I get::
+ SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
- SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
- USB Root Hub (3 ports)
USB Printing Support
Unused Port
Unused Port
+ SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
The top + opened out tells me that my mouse is connected
The bottom + opened out says:
- USB Root Hub (2 ports)

It appears (via Google) that SiS 7001 USB drivers can prove problematic. This is in addition to the fact that you have lost the SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller which supports USB 2.0
