if i buy a dell desktop box on its own, can i buy another manufacturers printer and monitor - will it all work ok? its just ive seen on dells website that it always has in the description (for monitors & printers) that they have been vigourously tested to ensure they are compatable with dell - which would imply that some manufacturers items wont work wih dell comuters - or dells own monitors and printers aren't actually there own, just someone elses with a dell badge on.

Unless you have a very old printer or monitor it should work fine. Almost all modern monitors, printers, etc can be used with a new PC, they don't all have to come from the same manufacturer.

if you buy a new machine any printer should work
and horses for courses .... a printer manufacturer such as epson, hp or canon will almost certainly give better results.

But with a monitor ..... but have you checked the prices of alternative monitors.

I recently bought a new box (mesh - not dell) with a branded 22" monitor and the "without monitor" option saved about �160 - the cheapest price for the same monitor was over �180

sellers want their kit to look good ... so will include a decent monito (unless you know different .... or have specific opinions)
