Ethel, I am expecting the printer to print the screen i am looking at however when i press alt and PrtScn there is nothing happening and I'm sat here like a 64 year old dummy!!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.In the good old days of DOS PrtScn did indeed output to the printer. However, under Windows it only sends a copy (picture) of the desktop to the Clipboard which can then be pasted into a graphics application.
To print any text or graphics you must use the Print command (via a toolbar or button) from within an application.
