Google crucial. You get the option to scan your computer. This will tell you if you have any spare memory slots or if computer will accept more memory. Then it tells you what you need. They also sell memory, but I wrote down what I needed and bought locally, as it was cheaper.

Thanks bdol48846! I done that, but it didn't tell me if it was rad or dram etc. It told me that I have 3 slots available. As an afterthought, could I add more cards in those slots, alongside the Memory cards I have, JUST A QUESTION?
Just scanned mine with crucial, scrolled down and this is what it shows.

When I did mine I wrote all the info shown for a 1 GB kit but I think it was the DDR info that I actually needed. Hope this is of some help.

Thanks bd! but it dosen't answer the question I asked, which was... "How do I find out ""on my computer"" what kind of RAM I have>>>RAM or DRAM or ???
Sorry I don`t know that, mine just shows how much ram in system information, but I assume mine is DD ram from the info given by crucial.

Again ! thank you. But now I have to ask the question again, in another form. As people seeing that there were so many answers, will not read my question.
I really did not want to know about your computer's ram. I wanted to know about mine.
You will need SDRAM PC100 or PC133 for an older PC or DDR1 or DDR2 for a newer PC.

The Crucial test tells you which (ie bdol4886346 needed DDR2 ) and the acceptable speed of the RAM.

Crucial memory is not much more expensive than locally obtained memory but it is top quality and guaranteed to be compatible with your PC or laptop
