I have recently purchased a lap-top who's operating system is Visa.

I wish to set-up Outlook Express but I can't seem to find it, doesn't Outlook Express come with Vista?

If I did set-up an Email account could I use my present Email address, and would my Emails go to both my Desk-Top ( XP) and Lap-Top, or would I need to set-up a different Email address?

Outlook Express has be revamped and is now Windows Mail. I'ts very similar to Outlook Express and even has a Junk Mail feature that keeps the SPAM out of your Inbox.

You can use the same mail addresses but they will go to whatever machine you click receive on, ie: if you collect/receive mail on the lappie it has already downloaded it from the server so you wont be able to collect it on the desktop.

Haven't worked out a way to receive on both my machines yet but i hope someone here has the answer.

Bekka is correct in saying that, by default, downloading your messages (to either computer) will remove them from the server, so you won't be able to re-download them on the other computer.

However, you can change that setting. To do so (in Outlook Express), go to Tools > Accounts > Mail and highlight the relevant account. Click 'Properties' and select the 'Advanced' tab. Click to place a tick alongside 'Leave a copy of messages on server'. Click 'OK' if you only want the settings to apply to the current session. Otherwise, click 'Apply', followed by 'OK'.

I've not got Vista but I assume that there will be a similar setting in Windows Mail.

One of the options with Outlook Express is to leave the files on the server while it also downloads them to your PC.

I use this all the time, so if I want to move my e-mail system to another PC I know I still have all my e-mails on the server.

Within Outlook Express go to Tools then Accounts, then choose the Mail tab.

Select the row for your Mail account then press Properties.

The Properties window is shown with 5 tabs.

Select the Advanced tab.

Select the option "Leave a copy of messages on server"

I also select the option "Remove from server when deleted from Deleted Items".

Now when you download your mail to your laptop it also keeps a copy on the server.

And if you delete mail from your PC is is deleted from the server.

I assume Vista Windows Mail has a similar option.
