I'm trying to rename the recycle bin by changing the registry values for the info shown on the note pad. Apparently this adds rename to the drop down menu when you right click on the recycle bin. I've followed the path shown on the pad to reach the right place but I don't know what exactly it is I have to change or how to do it.
Thanks

the tweak you show is incomplete
see
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000543.ht m
it works ... just tried it1
do the mod
right click the hive "shell folders" take the export option ... look at the text file that is saved .... follow the format and you can do just ablut anything.
rather than ruining your machine ....
download Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007
or VirtualBox
(both free)
install windows to a virtual machine ... and you can mess it up as often as you like ... then just restore to the original clean install ... and start again

Hi ACtheTROLL,
Nice of you to have test driven the improved mod and the export - open text option looks like an easy way to get things done. I've downloaded VirtualBox as my OS doesn't support Virtual PC, the build instructions look daunting though - to be honest - I think it's too much for me. To start with, I don't have Visual C++
REGSHOT! That was unexpected! if you can do that with any file - provide a link, they click and get the file with no say in the matter - then I'd be interested to know how that works!
I haven't had time to try anything yet but I'll give it a go over the weekend. Thanks alot for your help.

What OS are you using?
vpc works with XP and vista (business + ultimate)
virtual box ... just installs ......!!!!
XP/Vista will whine that it's not certificated ... but it works well
did you use this link?
http://www.virtualbox.org/download/1.5.0/Virtu alBox_1.5.0_Win_x86.msi
the page could be layed out better!
d/l - install - chose new......
just follow the wizard
"pretend" your real install CD belongs to the "virtual" box machine and install exactly as if it were a real PC
partition, format ......
