Flippin MSN Messenger Upgrade!!

When I logged into my Messenger this morning (quite an old version as the last one wouldn't work), I got a message saying I had to upgrade to the newest version, or I can't log in. So I downloaded it, and it wont open, saying it has "encountered a problem". I can't run an older version, as it insists I upgrade!! So what do I do? This is a viscious circle!

Might be worth searching some forums to see if you can get the new one working, because according to this: http://bink.nu/news/windows-live-msn-messenger -to-force-security-upgrade.aspx it doesn't look like you can go back to using an older version
