My Medie Center PC doesnt recognise some of my vidoe files

I am trying to play videos my media centre PC. I have a file containing AVI files & MP4 files, when I go into the Media Center, it only brings up the AVI files on the screen, and doesnt seem to recogbise the other files. I have used the XBOX Videora converter so the files should be compatible, once the media centre will recognise them. Any help would be great!!
