free antivirus programmes

i have loaded the avg anti virus to my computer and already have the free edition of pc tools spyware loaded do i need both if not which is the best one???

You can have both.

A "virus" and "spyware" are different things.

Have you got a firewall as well ?

If not try Zone Alarm who do a free version.

To rely on an online scanner to detect viruses AFTER the machine has already been infected, hardly seems the best option to me. Install proper antivirus software such as AVG, as suggested by VHG.
