Forwards Backwards Options on AOL

This is my second computer and when I log onto AOL, it is getting a more frequent problem, The forward and backward options will not work along with the refresh icon. Can anyone help please?
I am getting a bit fed up with AOL at the moment anyway but would like to solve the problem.
