A complex query in a database can be in many forms.

Suppose you had a table with all your employees in it.

A complex query might be:

Show me all the FEMALE employees, who earn over 15,000 a year, who are under 30 years old, who have been with company for more than 5 years, and are NOT married.

Complex queries can also be where your take data from TWO tables and join them together.

You might have one table showing your employees details, and another table with details of say company cars.

You could do a query which took name and address from the employee table, and perhaps make of car from the company car table.

You could produce a report showing which employees drive company cars made by Ford.

These are just examples
