While running a spyware doctor scan I saw the name Zlob flash across. I googled this & found it is listed as a dangerous trojan .However neither spyware doctor, AVG or Windows defender have picked it up as dangerous. Should I be worried?

Zlob is a trojan, usually accompanied with Vundo, which needs to be carefully removed.
If you are not having any other problems, such as popups etc, it may be on its own for now, and needs removed.
Run an online san with Kaspersky
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Have a read through the report it creates. Mainly it will say "Object is locked" that's fine.
Look for items that say "Virus" or "Not-a-virus" and if any, post a few examples.

Thanks , I ran the scan as you suggested & it came up with nothing at all . So I guess I'm ok
Good to hear.
It's always worth bearing in mind

As I was walkin' up the stair
I saw a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
Oh how I wish he'd go away

it's important to have (and use) tools you know you can trust.

As a wimp who doesn't know much malware I always follow the mags and stay mainstream ...
if you ask a question here ... normally you'll get a hundred different recommendations ... and generally you might have only heard of a couple ...
For my money they are the ones to use...
mac is the only one replying ... which is unusual ... but it's a good call that you can trust.

my next question is does your scanner still show zlob (or any other nasties) and when you say "A" spyware doctor
is it actually spyware doctor or some alternative medicine?

did you also get a message saying all removed?
cuz if not someone would seem to either be telling porkys ... or be mistaken.

either way you should perhaps be concerned about your existing protection .... and perhaps ... some of the sites you visit

It's Spyware Doctor & NONE of the scans showed Zlob or aany other nasties - which was part of my original question
Oh wait a mo, you saw Zlob flash up but nothing was actually found during the scan?
I think you may have just seen just one of many the things that the scan was looking for, not actually detecting.

That's right . Maybe I was just being paranoid? I've just started using online banking & don't want to take any chances . Not that there's any money in the account but you never know
If you are worried in online banking, you can always use the MS On screen keyboard:

Point to All Programs.
Point to Accessories.
Point to Accessibility.
Select OnScreen Keyboard

That way your keystrokes are not logged
